The PCIU does not only offer cochlear implants. Our team is trained to deliver treatment options for all varieties of hearing loss, from conventional hearing aids to other implantable hearing devices.
Single Sided Deafness
Patients with single-sided deafness often have very limited perception of their surroundings and therefore benefit from having their hearing function restored. There are two basic principles in the treatment options available for these patients:
- Using a cochlear implant to restore hearing on the affected side
- Using a bone conduction device to transfer all the auditory sensations to the hearing ear.
At the PCIU, a comprehensive assessment protocol is used to give patients the opportunity to experience and assess which treatment op on will be most suitable for their personal listening needs.
